Problem

The customer's niche was selling brand name athletic shoes and clothing at a competitive price. By 1991 the company had grown to 105 stores located primarily in Midwestern and Southeastern states. The company's size has increased dramatically over the past 20 years, yet rapid growth had its challenges. The company warehouses thousands of unique items in large volumes. Throughout the office and warehouse problems existed with their wireless network, particularly concerning "dead spots" in the warehouse with their terminals. This was causing periods of production loss ultimately resulting in losing thousands of dollars in downtime.

Solution

Miles was called in to provide a site survey. The Miles Systems Engineer identified problem areas in the offices and warehouse. As a result of the survey, Miles recommended and installed the Symbol 30 Port Wireless Switch and Wavelink Avalanche software. The 30 Port Wireless Switch provided room for growth and extend their wireless access for the necessary coverage.
